Floyd E. Hewitt, Sr.

CARIBOU – Floyd E. Hewitt Sr., 85, died September 3, 2022 at Bangor following a period of declining health. He was born in Caribou, September 4, 1936 the son of the late Bert William and Ruby May (Drost) Hewitt Sr. He attended Caribou Schools, and then enlisted in the United States Army. Floyd worked for many area potato growers, most recently at Guerrette Farms. He loved to be outside and found joy in mowing his lawn – and the lawns of others. He was an animal lover, who had many pets throughout the years including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds and a rooster.

Floyd is survived by his three children, Deborah Vicaire of Caribou, Pamela Dubay of Lenoir City, TN, and Floyd Hewitt Jr. of Santa Fe, NM, two siblings, Gordon Hewitt and Fanny Dionne both of Caribou, 4 grandchildren, Ryan Vicaire, David Dubay, Denise Dubay, and Katelyn Hewitt, 7 great-grandchildren, Jaelessa Vicaire ,Kymani Vicaire, Mason Dubay, Alyvia Dubay, Jackson Dubay, Joshua Irish and Benjamin Hewitt, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (Devine) Hewitt, a grandson, Kyle Hewitt, and siblings, Vivian Bubar, Eva Boyce Dyer, Gary Hewitt, Ralph Hewitt, and Bert W. Hewitt Jr.

Military honors will be conducted at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 37 Lombard Road, Caribou, on September 29, 2022 at 1PM.
