Emmett D. Ross Jr.

CARIBOU – Emmett D. Ross Jr., 93, died January 24, 2023 in Caribou following a period of declining health. He was born in Caribou, September 27, 1929 the son of Emmett Sr. and Geneva (Moser) Ross. Emmett served in the United States Air Force for 23 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He then worked for 20 years for the State of Maine Department of Labor as the manager of the unemployment office. Emmett was a member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church for 80 years. He was also a member of the Caribou Hoofers square dance club. In his retirement he was very involved as a volunteer for the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department, where he cleared and groomed many miles of ski trails.

Emmett is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ruth (Milton) Ross of Caribou, two sons, Donald Ross of Caribou, and Thomas Ross and wife Bonnie of New Durham, NH, three sisters, Jean Page of MA, Nita Moir of Millinocket, and Nancy Daigle of NH, his “like-a-daughter”, Kitty Doar and husband Bob of New Sweden, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Sandra “Penny” Falgout, Freda Ross, and Betty Ross, a grandson, Michael Lee Ross, and a daughter-in-law, Teresa Ross.

Friends may visit with the family at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 10:00AM until time of services which will be held at 11:00AM with Rev. Richard Rego officiating. Spring interment will take place in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
