Caribou-Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Stickles, 76, wife of Dwight Stickles passed away unexpectedly April 11, 2017 at her Caribou residence. She was born in Caribou February 14, 1941 the daughter of the late Willie and Greta (Gallagher) Gagnon. She attended the Holy Rosary Parochial School and was a 1959 graduate of Caribou High School. She married Dwight Stickles in October 1962. Liz lived and worked in Caribou all of her life, except for the two years she was with Dwight as a newlywed Army wife in El Paso Texas. She worked part time at FW Woolworth’s and then for Bearce Carter Oil, which was the beginning of her bookkeeping career. She was then employed as the office manager for Group W/Time Warner Cable in Caribou for many years. She was an active, longtime, charter member of the Caribou Snowmobile Club. After her retirement, Liz was active in volunteering in her community doing such things as auditing church books, delivering Christmas food baskets and helping with the operation of the Soup Kitchen. Surviving in addition to her husband Dwight of Caribou are her sister and brother in law, Rose Marie and Vincent Brown of Avon, Ct. Two special nephews; Bryce and Joel Brown and two maternal aunts; Glenna Carter and Dorothy Gallagher. Her faithful canine companion, Koko. Liz was predeceased by a brother Percy who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou Friday April 14, 2017 from 1:00pm until times of services. Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Phelps, officiating. Friends who wish to contribute in Liz’s memory may do so through the Caribou Soup Kitchen or the Presque Isle Animal Shelter.
