Caribou and Brewer-Edward C. Ouellette, 83 , died September 5, 2015 at Orono. He wasborn October 15, 1931 in Caribou , the son of the late Gilbert and Gertrude (Couturie) Ouellette. Edward graduated from Caribou High School, Class of 1950. The eldest of 8 children growing up on a farm, he had a strong work ethic and an unwavering commitment to family. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Edward was a Master Electrician. He was co-founder and co-owner of ELCO Electric. Ed was a lifetime member of the Knight’s of Columbus. Throughout his life, Ed was a quiet and thoughtful man, listening was important to him. He was always trying to help family, friends, and others, any way he could, never expecting anything, but respect, in return. Ed loved his family. He was a perfect gentleman. In retirement, Ed spent the winters playing golf in the Spring Hill, FL community of Timber Pines. He enjoyed his summers in Maine at Little Madawaska Lake, boating around the lake, visiting with family and friends, golfing, and driving his Farmall tractor. He was a member of the Tractor Club of Stockholm. Edward is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Joyce M. (Bouchard) Ouellette and their three children, Colleen Blanchette and her husband Timothy of Orrington, Gerard Ouellette and his wife Debora of Brewer, Jac Ouellette and her wife Celine Godin of South Portland, 5 grandchildren, Denise LaChance and her husband Jamie of Bothell, WA; Benjamin Blanchette and his wife Jessica of Dacula, GA; Erin Kerns and her husband Dave of Ellsworth, Jesse Ouellette of Boston, MA., Jacob Ouellette and wife Caroline of Quincy, MA. 6 great-grandchildren, Rylie and Emma LaChance, TJ and Amelia Blanchette, Dylan and Andrew Kerns. Ed is also survived by siblings, Dick Ouellette, Roland Ouellette, Nola Mayo, Nancy Lewis, and Jean Hermanson. In addition to his parents, Edward is predeceased by siblings, Roger Ouellette and Norbert Ouellette. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 6-8 pm Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Wednesday September 9, 2015 from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, North Caribou. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Following the services all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the parish center. The family would like to thank the Arbor Staff at Dirigo Pines for taking excellent care of Edward during the last year of his journey with Alzheimer’s Disease.
