Caribou-E. James “Jim” Philbrick, 71 died June 27, 2012 at his Caribou residence following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Caribou, December 1, 1940 the son of the late Eugene “Gene” and Flora (Violette) Philbrick. He was a 1958 graduate of Caribou High School as well as a graduate of Southern Maine Technical Institute. Jim was employed by the US Postal Service at Caribou for over 37 years, retiring in 2002. Following his retirement he enjoyed part time employment at Clukey’s Auto Supply. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his Cross Lake Camp. For many years he would take his vacation and work the potato harvest for Leavitt Farms. Surviving in addition to his wife Valerie (Smith) Philbrick of Caribou are two daughters and a son in law; Michele Theriault of Caribou and Lacie Philbrick-Turnbull and her husband Seth of Brunswick., a stepdaughter, Dawn Corey of Easton, Two stepsons; Jamie Turner of Perth Andover, N.B., and Gregory Turner of St. John, N.B. Three sisters and a brother in law; Florina Willis of Hamden, Ruth and Ken Bryant of Winthrop and Janet Chandler of Lincoln. His grandchildren, Tyler Theriault and his Dad Todd Theriault, and Isabelle Philbrick-Turnbull, Step grandchildren, Marshall and Austin Turner, Andrew Corey and Ariana Myshrall. Several nieces and nephews and his two special friends, Lin Lord and Everett Cole. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 7-9 pm Saturday. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Sunday from the Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Anthony Scott, officiating. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery.
