Woodland-Douglas Karl Berg, 63 husband of Peggy (Strid) Berg, passed away April 3, 2016 at his Woodland residence following a brief illness. He was born in Massachusetts July 25, 1952 the son of Edwin and Ruth (Fitzpatrich) Berg. Doug was a free spirited bachelor until he met the love of life, Peggy Strid. He loved his family and was a wonderfully devoted husband and father. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Doug was a talented artist, carpenter and mason who loved his work and put his heart and soul into it. He considered the people he worked for his friends, rather than employers. He loved to converse with people and make them smile. Doug loved to live life to its fullest and enjoyed staying active. He loved to golf, go to Hampton Beach, and playing and recording music brought him great joy. He played guitar like it was part of him. Playing in his band with his friends not only brought Doug happiness, but it also brought happiness to the listeners. His grandson, Tadan had a special place in his heart and shared his love of music and loved to go to the movies with him. Doug’s faith was very important to him. He was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and was known for speaking his faith. Doug was well known for his love of people and he loved to stop and talk with everyone he met. He leaves behind family and friends who will forever have a special place in their hearts for him. Doug is survived by his wife Peggy of Woodland, Two daughters and sons in law; Jennifer and Aaron Wedberg of New Sweden and Katherine and Sam Persons and their son Tadan of Caribou. His sister and brother in law, Gretchen and Frank Pandolfo of Cape Cod MA. A sister in law, Susan Berg of Bowdoin, several nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by a brother Eddie Berg. A funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 596 Sweden Street Caribou.
