CARIBOU – Doris Marie Martin, 79, wife of the late Norman Martin died November 1, 2012, in Caribou following a brief illness. She was born March 15, 1933, in Stockholm, the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Bourgoine) Plourde. She was a mother, housewife, and worked for local potato farmers for over 40 years. She loved playing bingo and pennies. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Doris married Norman Martin on July 16, 1951. Surviving are three sons, Norman "Billy" Martin and his wife, Carlene, Gerald "Bobby" Martin, and Steven Martin, all of Caribou; one daughter, Ella Mae Martin of DeWitt, Iowa; sisters Marie “Pearl” St. John of Terryville, Connecticut, Linda Arnold of Greenville, Patsy Thomas of Bangor; grandchildren Scott, Kristi, Billie Jo, and Bobby Martin and Jennifer Dubois all of Caribou, Billie Jean Martin of Madison, Brandy Plourde of Emden and Angelica Thomas of Austin, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; brothers Camille, Armond, George, and Russell; sisters Nancy, Madeline, and Geraldine. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 7-9 p.m. Sunday and from 1:00 pm Monday until time of funeral services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Doris's nephew, Fr. Kevin Martin, officiating Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
