Edwina ‘Debbie’ Chabre’, 83, passed away June 28, 2023, at Orono Commons surrounded by her loving family. She was born in St. David, November 2, 1939, one of eight children. Mom was the last surviving child of the late Damase and Melvina (Vaillancourt) Godin. Mom spent many years working the potato harvest, at Mecon Manufacturing and as a self-taught hair stylist. Mom supported her late husband, Dick, at the Chabre’ Animal Farm. Mom and Dad loved to have visitors from throughout Aroostook County and local schools tour the farm and feed the birds, peacock, ducks, sheep, deer, ostrich, and emu. Mom also served many years as a Volunteer and Greeter at Cary Medical Center. She loved to greet people as they entered the hospital or share her beautiful smile and warm heart with patients. Mom was a longtime member of Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was active as a Eucharistic minister, greeter and was a member of Family Life. Mom was also an active member of the Daughters of Isabella and Ladies of St. Anne, volunteering many hours at church events. She loved the many trips to St. Anne de Beaupre with the church family. Mom was married to the late Rodrique ‘Dick’ Chabre for fifty-three years before his death on June 30, 2016. Mom is also survived by her son, David and lifetime partner, Sonia and her son, Alex; two daughters, Lisa, her husband, Scott and their son, Ethan and his husband Matthieu; Kim and her lifetime partner, Luc and their children, Marcus and Braden. Mom is also survived by a special brother-in-law, Romeo Chabre’ and his wife, Martha; sister-in-law Irene Rowland; and her two special ‘kids’, Joan Kinney Holmes and Kris Doody. Mom had many special nephews and nieces. Friends and family may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 6pm-8pm, Thursday, July 6th. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Friday, July 7th at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou. A reception will immediately follow the funeral at the parish hall. Interment will be in the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank her longtime doctor and friend, Dr. Sherri Dumont and the amazing team at Orono Commons who cared for Mom the last months of her life.
