CARIBOU – David M. Espling Sr. , 67, passed away January 20, 2017 at Caribou. He was born November 4, 1949 in Caribou, the son of the late Merle C. and Cecile M. (Plourde) Espling. He worked many years in Aroostook County as a truck driver and mechanic. He proudly served his country for 20 years, first in the Army and then in the Maine Army National Guard 152nd Field Artillery. He is survived by two sons, Devon and wife Meagan Espling of New Sweden and David Espling Jr. of Washburn, three daughters, Ashley and husband Brian Philbrook of Mapleton, Mykayla Espling of Limestone, and Rebecca Hall of Las Vegas, NV, four grandchildren, two brothers, Mark and wife Debbie Espling of Caribou, and Michael and wife Dayle Espling, all of Caribou, five sisters, Carol Hotelling, Linda and husband Jim Tilley all of Caribou, Sharon and husband Alan Thompson of Washburn, Cathy and husband William Honer of Aurora, CO, Patti and husband Dennis Bartlett, and Lisa Espling all of Presque Isle. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews , and his beloved kitties. Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 2:00pm until time of services which will be held at 3:00pm with Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veteran’s Cemetery following the service. Immediately following the committal, there will be a time of continued fellowship at the home of Michael and Dayle, 306 Madawaska Road, Caribou.
