CARIBOU – Daniel Anthony Hurley, 58, died August 21, 2019 at his Caribou residence surrounded by his family following a short battle with cancer. He was born in Houlton, August 9, 1961 the son of Frank J. and Donna R. (Merritt) Hurley. Dan was known as “Mr. Fix-It”, even if he didn’t know how to fix something he would always find a way. He took great joy in puttering around the house, and special care was taken when mowing his lawn on his zero-turn mower. His sense of humor will be missed by many. Surviving in addition to his mother of Caribou, is his sister, Catherine C. Begert and husband Frank of Sabattus, two nieces, Julie Begert of Sabattus, and Jennifer Jacques and husband Matthew of Lewiston, a great-nephew, Collin Jacques, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Frank in 2012, as well as his grandparents. Dan will also be missed by his therapy dog, Ladybug, whom he loved very much even though their time together was short. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Monday, August 26, 2019 from 9:30am until time of services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church, at 11am on Monday. Following the services all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the parish center. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton, at 3pm.
