Dana Steven Hersey, a man adored by many, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on March 25, 2025. Dana was born on December 3, 1947 to Merle Hersey and Margaret Anderson Hersey.
Dana had many talents, and he worked as a mechanic, a job he excelled at and loved. A man of few words, he was forever lending a helping hand. Dana enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling with friends and family, especially with his brothers. The three of them were always pursuing one adventure after the other, He spent a great deal of his time outdoors and camping. His most cherished pastime, however, was playing with his grandchildren and hosting family gatherings. Dana always had his beautiful dog, Bella, at his side.
Dana was called upon by his beloved country to serve in Vietnam when he was just out of Caribou High School. On November 22, 1967, as a young soldier, he left behind the potato fields of Aroostook County and found himself walking through the jungles of Vietnam.
Dana was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother and friend. On June 24, 1972, Dana married Marcy Rae Beaulieu, beginning a love story that has lasted for 52 years. They were blessed by two children, Brandy of Caribou and Brye of Fort Fairfield.
Dana is survived by his wife Marcy, his daughter Brandy Hersey Morrow and her husband Vince, Dana's son Brye, Dana's sister, Sandra Hersey Gagnon of Rome, Maine; his brother, Kent and wife, Belinda of Caribou; his brother, Kirk and wife Betty of Stockholm, Maine; his sister-in-law, Marla Kovach and husband, Joe of Caribou and brother-in-law, Michael Beaulieu and wife Sheila of Caribou.
Dana is also survived by his grandchildren: Anesha Hersey, Jacob Morrow and companion, Alyssa Morgan; Jerred Morrow, Nate Morrow, Bryson Hersey, Arriya Hersey, Cayson Hersey, Graynt Hersey, Kianah Pelletier, Zachorias Lavallee, Desiree Lavallee, Faith Rosada, and Arial Rosada. Dana has one great - grandchild, Colby Morrow.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 10:30 AM at New Song Church, located at 36 Chandler Road, Presque Isle, Maine. The officiating clergy will be Pastors Granville and Janice Lamb. Spring interment with military honors will be at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
The family requests that donations go toward the care and rehabilitation of disabled veterans.
