CARIBOU - Constance Hopper Duncan, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 1, 2023, surrounded by her family at the Aroostook House of Comfort. She was born in Millinocket, on September 23, 1929, to Frank and Evelyn (Leaman) Hopper. Connie graduated from Caribou High School and attended Farmington State Teachers College. Connie and Lloyd Duncan married on September 27, 1950, and celebrated 65 years together before his death in 2016.
Connie played the piano and organ for many Caribou funerals and was a bookkeeper for one of her husband’s businesses, Commercial and Industrial Electronics. As a wife and mother to seven, much of her work was at home. Connie was an active member of the Caribou United Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher, deaconess, mission circle member, Pioneer Girls leader, junior church leader, and pianist into her late 80s. She was a hospice volunteer and respite caregiver for several years. Connie was an area speaker for the Northern Maine Mission Association. Most recently, Connie attended the First Baptist Church of Woodland, where she made many new friends.
All seven children survive: Bruce and Penny (Jones) Duncan of Kane, PA; Robert and Erla-Lee (Miller) Duncan of Fort Fairfield; William and Jean (Buzzell) Duncan of Madawaska Lake; Alan and Rebekah (Duncan) Trombley of Chapman; Brian and Tammie (Cyr) Duncan of Tucson, AZ; Gerald and Elizabeth (Duncan) McKenna of Caribou; and Scott and Barbara (Duncan) Pinkham of Dedham. Surviving also are two sisters, Mary Etta (Hopper) and Gary Richards of Mapleton; and Cathie (Hopper) and Scott Moore of Lake Wales, FL; 14 grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Siblings Lewis Hopper and Christine (Hopper) Kane and two infant great-grandchildren predeceased her.
Connie’s family invites everyone to visit on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. Connie’s grandson, Joshua Duncan, is officiating. Interment follows at Riverside Cemetery in Washburn. Those who wish to contribute in memory of Connie may do so through Baptist Park, P.O.
