FARMINGDALE – Colonel Richard B. Green, Army National Guard Ret., 79, died unexpectedly March 2, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Presque Isle, December 21, 1941, the son of Fay and Gretchen (Boyd) Green. Richard was educated in Presque Isle, and then attended Husson College earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Richard began his military career in 1961 and served for 40 years retiring in 2001. Col. Green was a comptroller for the Maine Army National Guard for 25 years. He was very proud of his job and always took every opportunity to better himself professionally. Richard always strived to be the best Military Comptroller that he could be. Richie was also a member of Trinity Lodge #130 A.F. & A.M. in Presque Isle, and the Hosta Society of Augusta. He is survived by his children, Mark T. Green and partner Thane Wright, of Orlando, FL, Stephanie Green of Caribou, and Jay Green and wife Mary of Caribou, Penny Green of Caribou the Mother of his children and a lifelong loyal friend, two sisters, Dawn and husband Vince Calbi of VA and Ann Baker of CT, a special friend William Pelletier of Augusta. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Craig Green of Presque Isle. Richard also leaves behind many other close friends from the Farmingdale neighborhood and his Military family. He was predeceased by his parents, and two siblings, Laurel and Betty Green.
Interment with military honors will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, on June 18, 2021 at 12pm
