Caribou-Clifford L. Martin, 90 passed away suddenly August 29, 2016 at his North Caribou residence. He was born in Madawaska March 19, 1926 the son of the late Joe and Mamie (Guimond) Martin. Clifford served with the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post 9389VFW. He married Gloria Sirois, June 11, 1946 and they recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. He was employed as a master electrician with Maine Public Service, retiring after 38 years as a power plant operator, and for over 50 years he was also a self-employed electrician. Clifford was a longtime, faithful and active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving in addition to his wife, Gloria of Caribou are his children; April R. Caron of Connor, Shelby C. Martin and wife Molly of Lillowet, BC and Craig D. Martin and his wife Sandy of Connor, a sister, Bernie Cairelli of FL. Five grandchildren, Marty and Michele Lynn Caron, Rachael Silva, Jimmy & Shelby Martin Jr., a step-grandson, Christian Daniels, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gilbert “Babe”, Maurice, and Lou, a sister, Thelma Green, a sister-in-law, Annette, and a son-in-law, Conrad G. Caron, The family wishes to thank his very special neighbors, Darrell and Roselle Bouchard, who helped out in so many ways, our family thanks you for all you have done. He will also be remembered by two special friends, Kermit Staples and Patty Collins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Friday, September 2, 2016 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Sacred Heart Catholic Church, North Caribou. Interment will be in the Northern Maine Veteran’s Cemetery. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments in the parish hall.
