Charles Forsman

November 27, 1939 — July 10, 2024

Caribou

Charles Forsman, 84, passed away after a long battle with health issues on July 10, 2024 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. He was born in Caribou, November 27, 1939 the son of Simon and Geneva (Weeks) Forsman. 

Charles attended Stockholm Grammar School and then Caribou High School. After growing up on a farm in Maine, he moved to Massachusetts where he met his wife, Diane. 

He worked for many years at New England Grocer’s Warehouse. Then in 1979 made the decision to move his family back to Maine where he tried potato farming while working at Mecon Machine Shop in Caribou. In 1990, he helped form the business known as Forsman Sintered Products, Inc. He then retired but the business is still going and is called Porvair which has grown to be a pretty big company in Caribou, Maine. This would have never been if Charles hadn’t started it. He always enjoyed hunting and fishing and just being out in the woods. He was an active member of the Woodland Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and sang in the choir. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Simon and Geneva (Weeks) Forsman, five siblings Larry, Philip, Priscilla, Phylis and Iona Forsman, a daughter, Brenda Forsman Zeigler and a grandson Zakary Zeigler.

He leaves his wife of 61yrs, Diane Lamprey Forsman, of Caribou, brother Galen and wife Rita Forsman of Stockholm, son Brian Forsman and wife Deborah of Memphis, TN, grandchildren Mike Drost of AK, Cortney Zeigler of Van Buren, Josh Forsman of Caribou, Anna Weatherington of TN, and great-grandchildren, Josiah, Harmony, Jayden, Freya, Asher, Tyson, Kaleb, Karson, Kyla, Ayla, Dagonna, many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by a lot of friends and family. Rest in Peace!

Friends may call at the Woodland Baptist Church, 494 Colby Siding Road, Woodland, Maine, on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 12PM until time of services which will be held at 1PM. A time of fellowship will follow in the church hall. Interment will be in the Stockholm Cemetery.
