Woodland - Charles (Charley) Christopher Caron 76, formerly of Caribou, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, April 2, 2024. He was born January 2, 1948, in Bristol, Connecticut and attended Bristol High School. Charley enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967. He served in Bien Hoa Air Base, Vietnam with the 3rd Civil Engineering Squadron, while serving in a combat zone as an Electrical Power Production Specialist. He was honorably discharged as a highly decorated Sergeant in 1973, while serving at Caswell Air Base, Caswell, Maine.  He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.  He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Charley met the love of his life, Donna, in 1971.  They married on November 15, 1987. Charley attended Ricker College in 1975 to pursue Business Administration and Northern Maine Technical College in 1987, for his Boiler Operator License. He was employed at McCain Foods, Inc. as a Boiler Operator from 1987 until his retirement in 2018. Charley was a member of a local ATV club and enjoyed riding the trails and attending club events with his best friend, Russ Chamberlain.  Charley enjoyed spending time with his family at Cross Lake.  His many talents included photography, capturing family on video, nature, and electronics.  Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Percy “Buster” and Cynthia Caron, his loving wife, Donna, his special K-9 companion, Bandit, and two stepchildren, Galen Michaud, and Kellie Kaelin.  He is survived by a brother, Ardan Caron, and a sister, Sandra Poupart (Caron), three stepchildren including a special stepdaughter, Cathie McBreairty, and her husband Omar.  He is also survived by many step-grandchildren, including Tiffany Dodd and her husband Andy, Brandon McBreairty and his wife Danielle, and several great grandchildren, including Dylan, Connor, Sadie, Parker, Violet, and Sierra. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Charley leaves behind his beloved parrot, Ginger (Gin-Gin), who has been by his side since 1980.  Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 10AM until time of services which will be held at 11AM from the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ron Rosser officiating. A celebration of life will follow at the VFW Post 9389, Van Buren Road, Caribou.  Committal will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.  The family would like to express their thanks for the wonderful help and care given by his caregivers and Northern Light Hospice.  A special thank you to Jessica Gagnon FNP, Caitlyn Wilcox, Dr. Carl Flynn and Jessica Lizotte.  In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
