Cecile Marie Chapman

LIMESTONE – Cecile Marie Chapman, 80, wife of the late John G. Chapman passed away August 17, 2019 at Caribou surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was born in Clair, New Brunswick, Canada on April 17, 1939 the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Kennedy) Michaud. She attended St. Therese School in Clair. On December 28, 1957 she married John “Pup” Chapman. Cecile was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and assisted her husband John with the daily operations of the family farm in Limestone for many years. Cecile’s greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an ambitious and hard worker always willing to help out in any way, she loved flowers, country music, and spending Saturday nights listening to French music on the radio. Many will fondly remember Cecile riding her John Deere Gator around the farm. She is survived by two sons, Peter of Limestone, Nelson and wife Stacy of Caribou, two daughters, Nancy and husband Alan McBreairty, and Sandra and husband Storer DeMerchant all of Caribou, four brothers, Armand and Gerard Michaud of Clair, NB, Lucien Michaud and wife Nicole of Baker Lake, NB, and Roger Michaud and wife Jacqueline of New Britian, CT, five sisters, Anita Morin and husband Phil of Fort Kent, Rita Blanchet and husband Jacques of Levis, QC, Gertrude Thibodeau and husband Fern of Fort Kent, Jeannine Michaud of Clair, NB, and Georgette Soucy and husband Gary of Fort Kent, her grandchildren, Victoria Jones and husband Lucas of TX, John McBreairty of Caribou, Stephanie and Jennifer Chapman, Brooke and Heather DeMerchant all of Caribou, two special great-grandchildren, Keagan and Kempson Jones of TX, a brother-in-law, Alberic Martin, a sister-in-law, Rita Michaud, both of MA, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chapman was predeceased by her husband John in 2004, and siblings, Germaine Martin, Albert Michaud, Ursule Michaud, Benoit Michaud, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Michaud. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou from 6 to 8pm on Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am, Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou. Following the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the parish hall.
