Weeki Wachee, FL and Stockton Springs - Carolyn P. Hawes, passed away peacefully August 13, 2017 , following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Winterport, March 15, 1944, the daughter of the late Pearl and Marion Hawes. She lived on Cape Jellison in Stockton Springs and was a 1962 graduate of Searsport High School. Carolyn had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, and cooking. She especially loved to make homemade candy for family and friends. After working at several entry-level positions, she went back to school and was a graduate of Beal College in Bangor. She later became the manager of the Penobscot Inn in Bangor. Carolyn is survived by her partner, Gerald Hamilton of Weeki Wachee, FL, a daughter and son-in-law Gina and Steve Corbin of Enola, PA, a son, James Mogan of Standish, her granddaughter, Jennifer Patel and her husband Bhavin of Mechanicsburg, PA, her two beautiful great grandchildren, Arya and Neelam Patel, a sister, Linda Dakin of Bucksport, two brothers, Larry Haws of Stockton Springs and Harold Hawes and his wife Lois of Belfast, a sister-in-law Joan Hawes of Bucksport, many nieces and nephews, and her special friends, Bill and Betty Robert of Weeki Wachee, FL. Carolyn was predeceased by James Mogan, the father of her children, and her parents, Pearl and Marion Hawes. A burial ceremony will be held for family and friends in Stockton Springs, at a later date and time to be announced in a future edition of the Bangor Daily News.
