Brian P. Rogers

October 15, 1940 — June 22, 2012

Caribou Brian P. Rogers, 71 died June 22, 2012 at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. He was born in Bangor October 15, 1940, the son of the late Philip and Virginia (Moore) Rogers of Caribou. He attended Caribou High School and MCI, in Pittsfield, graduating 1959. In high school Brian played on the boys' varsity basketball team and during the 1957-1958 season, assisted in helping the team win the Eastern Maine Championship. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and while he was stationed at Altus, OK, he was given a meritorious award for saving a man's life. Brian played on the Air Force volleyball team from 1960-1964.
His sales career began with Firestone Tire in 1964. He then joined Home Life Insurance Co in NJ. Although Brian was not academically inclined, he honed his gift of gab and personal charm for his insurance agent career, which spanned almost 50 years. He was appointed to the President's Council and became a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable Club for many consecutive years in the 1970's.
His move back to "The County" enabled him to enjoy his first love, hunting and fishing. An avid sportsman, Brian thoroughly enjoyed sharing his rod, reel and gun experiences with others. A favorite time of the year was hunting season, a time when he looked forward to getting with friends at hunting camp, a place where endless stories, cribbage games and good food & drink were enjoyed by all. In his later years, Brian developed his culinary skills and became known for his game and fish recipes.
