CARIBOU – Barbara A. Thompson, 82, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Caribou. She was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada, September 27, 1940, the daughter of the late Roy and Helene (Ewens) Kennedy. Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Caribou High School, and earned her licensed practical nursing degree from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1973. She had worked at J.J. Newberry as well as Day’s Jewelers, and upon graduation she worked for several local doctors most recently, Dr. Narayana Prasanna. She also spent time working at Caribou Nursing Home for several years. After retiring, Barbara spent many years volunteering at the Cary Medical Center gift shop. She enjoyed tending to her flower beds, reading, cross stitching, cooking, and travelling with her family and friends. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of over 64 years, Roger A. Thompson, of Caribou, two children, Laura Churchill and husband Daren of Washburn, and Michael Thompson of Cross Lake, two granddaughters, Kelsey and Kennedy Churchill, several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to everyone at Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center for all of their care and compassion shown to Barbara and the family during this time. Private family service will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
