CARIBOU – Samuel R. Bailey, 78, passed away April 3, 2021 at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou with his wife at his side, after a period of declining health. He was born in Caribou, on May 13, 1942. Sam was raised in Caribou, attending the Caribou Schools, and was a 1960 graduate of Caribou High School. Following graduation, Sam served in the United States Army. On October 23, 1965, he married Marilyn J. Beaulieu, and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Sam was employed as a truck driver with various companies, but primarily with Anderson Beverage and Maine Potato Growers (MPG) for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Bailey of Caribou, sons, Scott W. Bailey and partner Heidi Fish of Bangor, Timothy J. Bailey and wife Tammy, of Naples, a daughter, Karen M. Theriault and husband Rick, of Caribou, a sister, Connie Moore, of FL, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sam was predeceased by his parents, Athill W. and Elva Mae (McNeal) Bailey, his biological parents, Linwood and Evelyn Brown, two brothers, Gerald and Richard Brown, and a very special grandson, Blake Vaillancourt. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 6pm until 8pm at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11am at the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. At both the funeral home and the church, we ask that guests practice social distancing, wear a face covering, and be mindful that only a limited number of people are allowed in the building at a time. Private interment will take place at a later date in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
