Avis Chapman

March 19, 1928 — November 9, 2019

Caribou-Avis B. Chapman, 91, wife of the late Warren Chapman, died peacefully November 9, 2019 at Caribou following heart complications. She was born in Presque Isle March 19, 1928 the daughter of the late Linas and Inez ( Haines) Billings. She was a 1945 graduate of Presque Isle High School and was employed by Bell Telephone for a number of years. More recently she was employed in the medical records department at Cary Medical Center. Mrs. Chapman was a longtime active member of the Caribou United Baptist Church, where she was involved with many church groups and activities. She loved sewing, crafting, antiques as well as collecting dolls. During her life, Avis truly loved to travel and had many wonderful experiences, near and far. She is survived by her son, Thomas Chapman and daughter Deb London both of Caribou. One sister Alberta Viel of Presque Isle, a brother and sister in law Linas and Shirley Billings of Eagle Lake, Many nieces and nephews, including a special niece Susan Robinson of Dover Foxcroft. Mrs. Chapman was predeceased by her husband, Warren in 1973, four sisters; Dorothy Kinney, Shirley Rogers, Alice Cannon and Betty Voisine, as well as a son in law Richard London. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou Thursday November 14, 2019 from 12 noon until time of services which will be held at 1:00pm from the funeral home with Pastor Michael Sullivan, officiating.
