CARIBOU – Allyn Dale Hartley, 85, passed away May 8, 2019 at Caribou. He was born in Caribou, August 28, 1933, the son of Thomas and Edna (Jandreau) Hartley. Allyn proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a plant supervisor at Bird’s Eye Foods for 30 years, and was also employed by the state of Connecticut for 15 years. Allyn was an avid fisherman who taught his family to fish. He also was a wonderful artist – he painted beautiful pictures and was an outstanding harmonica player and singer. Allyn loved spending time with his family, whether it was playing cards or going fishing – it did not matter what they were doing, as long as they were together. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hartley was predeceased by a son, Rory Hartley, brothers, Tom and Roderick Hartley, and a sister, Virginia Dube. Allyn is survived by a daughter, Laurie Hartley of Westbrook, three brothers, Ken Hartley of Caribou, John Hartley of East Hartford, CT, and Greg Hartley of Rocky Hill, CT, three sisters, Brenda Beaudet of Grand Falls, MT, Francis Bureau of Tamarack, FL, and Ruby Pelletier of Caribou, five grandchildren, Michaal, Erin, Chad, Bronsen and Taylor, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou for the wonderful care that Allyn received while he was a resident there, Allyn thought very highly of everyone at MVH. Graveside services will be held 1pm, May 28, 2019 at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Lombard Road, Caribou.
