WOODLAND - Allen E. Ackerson, 86, died at home in Woodland on August 15, 2022 after a period of declining health. He was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on April 2, 1936, the son of the late Ellsworth and Lillian (Mansman) Ackerson. He was a 1952 graduate of Wayne High School in Wayne, NJ. Allen served in the United States Army, and then in the U.S. Army Reserves. On June 22, 1962 he married Bettylou Bourhill. Allen attended the St. Mattress Church. In 1969, Allen started Ackerson Pump Company. His daughter Tracey joined him in the family business in 1987. In 1996, he retired and he and Betty moved to the Island of Anguilla where they spent 5 years basking in the sun and where he spent hours on his boat in the beautiful Caribbean Sea. They moved back to the states for the love of family. Allen worked hard, and played harder. His love of family will always be remembered.  In June of this year Allen and Betty celebrated 60 years of marriage.
