Albert A. Akeley

CARIBOU – Albert A. Akeley, 85, passed away March 9, 2021 at Presque Isle following a brief illness. He was born in Presque Isle, April 9, 1935, the son of the late Joseph Francis and Della Elizabeth (Merritt) Akeley. Albert was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, served in the US Army, and was employed by Maine Public Service for many years before owning and operating his own business – Appliance Service Center of Aroostook. Mr. Akeley attended and was very dedicated to the Bessie Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou, where he was a member for over 60 years. Albert is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Josselyn) Akeley of Presque Isle, their children, Deborah J. Barnes and husband Jason of Fort Fairfield, Joe Akeley and wife Cindy of Florissant, MO, Arthur A. Akeley and wife Judy of Sagamore Beach, MA, and Kathleen J. Forbes and husband Kent of Caribou, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 4 older brothers, and is survived by one sister, Joy Akeley of TN. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held in the spring at the Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
