Alban Cyr Jr.

October 4, 1951 — June 10, 2013

Caribou-Al Cyr, 61 well known area businessman, died unexpectedly June 10, 2013 at a Portland hospital. He was born in Caribou October 4, 1951 the son of Alban and Louise (Gagnon) Cyr Sr. He was a 1969 graduate of Caribou High School and also received his degree from the University of Maine at Orono. He married Sally Burlock on September 18, 1976. Mr. Cyr was a local businessman and entrepreneur, starting and running several companies as well as operating numerous others. He was a member of the Caribou Rotary Club, was a corporater for Eastern Maine Health Care Systems, as well as serving on the executive board of the Caribou Development Corporation. Al loved the outdoors and spending time with family and friends, especially on numerous Allagash Waterway camping trips. He also loved to hunt and had many memorable snowmobile trips with his friends. Al was also an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing guitar with his band The Korporation and had many fond memories of playing music with them and their “reunion tours”. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of over 36 years, Sally of Caribou are his his daughter and son in law Courtney and Dr. Claude Boma of Caribou, his son Adam Cyr of Caribou. His mother Louise, his beloved grandchildren, Chloe and Camilla Boma and Liam Cyr. His brothers, Bill Cyr, Mike Cyr and wife Pauline and sister Judy Stetson and husband Dean. His father in law Jack Burlock, a brother in law Steve Burlock and wife Helen and a sister in law Susan Nightingale and husband Matt. Several nieces, nephews. Mr. Cyr was predeceased by his father Alban Cyr Sr. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home 24 Reservoir Street Caribou 6-9 pm Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Saturday June 15, 2013 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
