Adella Johnson

October 14, 1946 — August 9, 2021

NEW SWEDEN – Adella Johnson, 74, died August 9, 2021 at her home in New Sweden. She was born in Caribou on October 14, 1946, to Albert and Lillian (Nelson) Johnson of New Sweden.  Adella was a 1964 graduate of Caribou High School, and then served as a VISTA volunteer working in the hills of Kentucky with the poor. She always enjoyed helping people in any way that she could. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping; taking may kids camping down by the river. Growing up on a farm, Adella knew what hard work was from a young age. She worked for 31 years at Kelley Packaging. Adella was a member of the Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, and helped out with the Junior and High League. She was also a member of the New Sweden Recreation Committee, helping with many winter carnivals, and was a Girl Scout leader. Adella played guitar for the Swedish dancers during the Midsommar Festival and was proud of her Swedish heritage. She believed that a five-cent smile gets more for you than a ten-dollar frown, so smile! Adella is survived by her three “sunshine girls”; her daughter, Penny Johnson, and her two granddaughters, Lilly and Allie Johnson Roy, of Connor Township, who brought so much love and meaning to her life. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Alaine and Raymond Bernier, and a nephew, Brian Voisine. Friends may visit with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 1pm until time of services which will be held at 2pm from the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. Interment will follow in the New Sweden Cemetery.
