Omerine C. Cyr
CARIBOU – Omerine C. Cyr, 79, passed away December 28, 2020 at Caribou. She was born in Madawaska, January 16, 1941, the daughter of the late Joseph and Wellena (Gervais) Chasse. Omerine was a graduate of Madawaska High School, and she married Peter Cyr on November 11, 1961. She was a teacher for the Aroostook County Headstart Program for over 20 years. Mrs. Cyr was a devoted member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Surviving in addition to her husband of over 59 years, Peter of Caribou, are her children, Shawn and wife Lori Cyr of Fort Fairfield, and Shelly and husband Frank McGee of Wolfeboro, NH, her grandchildren, Frankie and Thomas McGee, three brothers, Norman Chasse and wife Rachel of Madawaska, Gerald Chasse and wife Mary Ann of Van Buren, Ronald Chasse and wife Denise of New Brunswick, Canada, four sisters, Marie Mae Vaillancourt, Martha Lavertu and husband Roger, and Nancy Corbin all of Madawaska, Anne Marie Blaylock and husband Terry of Hot Springs, AR, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cyr was predeceased by brothers, Edward “Bee” Chasse, and Lionel Chasse, a sister, Priscilla Lavertu and a brother-in-law Richard Corbin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at a date and time to be announced by the Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou. Omerine’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Caribou Nursing Home for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Omerine during her time there.
