Gerry H. Bouchard
Caribou - Gerry H. Bouchard 76, passed away peacefully October 8, 2020 at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Caribou February 28, 1944 the son of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Chambers) Bouchard. Gerry was a 1962 graduate of Caribou High School. After serving with the US Army during Vietnam, he worked in various sales positions, notably selling heavy equipment and machinery for Caterpillar Inc (CAT). One of Gerry’s aspirations was to own a grocery store. In 1982, he had the opportunity to realize his dream when he purchased the Washburn Food Mart in Washburn. He not only took pride in his business, but truly enjoyed the friends he made during his time in business. Due to declining health he sold the store in 1993.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 35 years, JoAnne (Maynard) Bouchard of Caribou, his stepsons; Mark Gahagan of Caribou and Bucky Gahagan and wife Estelle of Glenburn. One special grandson Gabe Gahagan who will forever miss his “Gumpy”. Three brothers; Joseph, Robert and Reginald Bouchard all of Caribou, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bouchard was predeceased by sisters, Adelia “Dolly” Bouchard, Mavis “Mamie” Gahagan, and brothers Dwayne, Dale and Richard “Dick” Bouchard. Private family services with military honors will be held at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
