WOODLAND – Cotey E. Doody, 22, died unexpectedly November 12, 2020 at Woodland. He was born in Caribou, January 17, 1998. He was a graduate of Caribou High School, and worked on Tom Drew’s Farm for several years – where he especially enjoyed interacting with the animals. Cotey will be truly missed by his grandmother, Frenchie Doody, of Woodland, who raised Cotey from a very early age, as well as many family members and friends.  Private family services will be held at the Mockler Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Woodland Cemetery.

Mr. Sterris and myself are saddened by this tragic loss. We both had Cotey at Woodland School. He was always a bright spot in our day. Prayers to all who love him.

I was so sad to hear about Cotey. I was his second grade teacher and enjoyed having him in class. He was a very nice boy and special to many during his years at Woodland School. My very sincere condolences to you and the family.

My thoughts and Prayers are with Frenchie, and the family during this time, as well as Tommy. Cotey always came into the store I worked at and I could always get him to smile by yelling good morning to him. We became really close more-so over the past 2 years, he was someone I could talk too while I was going thru some of the hardest times of my life. His perseverance thru everything he has gone through was something I admired. And his blunt and honest opinions and advice was always welcomed and appreciated. I pray he's found the peace he needed.... but, life just wont be the same without him..... I miss him so much.

My sincere condolences.
I know we are not supposed to have favorites in school but I think it was no secret in Woodland that Cotey touched my heart in a very special way from the very first day I met him at the Woodland School when he was in the first grade. Frenchie graciously allowed him to come to my house and play with my children on numerous occasions. My heart is so broken at hearing the news of his passing. I have lived out of state for 7 years and though I have heard good things of this fine young man, I have been out of touch with him and Frenchie. Memories are flooding back that remind me of his beautiful heart and his bright smile. He didn’t smile often but when he did, it melted my heart. He will always hold a special place with me and even in my shock and grief I try to remember that Cotey was and continues to be loved by so many and he will be missed. He is one-of-a-kind and I am blessed to have known him and Frenchie. I am so sorry and sad. Rest In Peace sweet Cotey.

I was blessed to have Cotey as my student at Alternative HS in Caribou. He quickly became a favorite of mine. I am so saddened that he is gone. I remember Cotey telling me that Bigfoot lived in Woodland and for a Yankee Swap, I got him a Bigfoot ornament. He loved it!. I wish I could have helped him find happiness and relief from his demons. He was a very special young man and I will keep him forever in my prayers
