Cecile Pauline Bell of Caribou, Maine, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on April 18, 2021 at a local hospital, just five days after her 90th birthday. Cecile was born in Fort Kent, Maine on April 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Corinne (LaChance) Martin Sr. Cecile married Wilfred J. Bell in 1950 and celebrated more than 61 years of marriage with her beloved husband before his death on December 23, 2011. Cecile was employed at JCPenny in Caribou for a number of years, where she developed superior gift wrapping skills, which is a delightful part of her tremendous legacy. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a faithful follower of Christ who recited the rosary every day, praying for those in need and giving thanks for life’s many blessings. She was an active member of the Catholic Order of Foresters where she held numerous leadership positions. Family and friends enjoyed sitting around the kitchen table eating corn fritters during holiday meals or simply to play cards and share stories. Cecile was an avid BINGO player in her later years. Like many of her generation, Cecile kept a solid inventory of facial tissues, rubber bands, paper clips, and safety pins nearby at all times. She was a spirited, fun lady who was as one family member stated, “The real deal.” Kind, loving, compassionate, and master of quick wit, she is already dearly missed.
